26212229753_40c83d381b_oLaura successfully completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classical Percussion at the Conservatory in Rotterdam. During her study’s, Laura participated in various music competitions and won several jury, audience and press prizes at the Princess Christina Concours, the Grachtenfestival Conservatory Concours, Prix du Port, de Grote Kamermuziek Prijs, National Final of the Eurovision Young Musician and the YAMAHA Percussion Scholarship. During her performances, Laura started to enrich her programs with theatrical elements. Jury’s praised her recitals as “An impressive performance of total theater.” And “Theatrical and visually impressive.” Laura sensed the combination of music and theater was an ever passion of hers and started to collaborate with directors like Herman van Veen, Ruut Weissman, Leopold Witte, Katrien van Beurden and Erik van der Horst.
During her Bachelor, Laura got admitted to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra Academy and was a regular guest player at the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, National Ballet Orchestra, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Asko|Schonberg ensemble, Slagwerk Den Haag and toured across Europe. Laura became a frequently asked soloist in De Doelen Rotterdam, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and started to appear more regularly on TV during various music programs for classical- and pop music. After being invited as a soloist at the TV shows of Maestro, she started working on an episode for an educational program called Klokhuis, broadcasted on National TV.
While completed her degrees with a 9 and 9,5 Laura started to move into the combination of music and theatre. She founded the Lip Stick Percussion Duo, together with percussionist Maria Martpay, where they focus on powerful performances with style, both in music and appearance. Laura is a profound player of Neo Fanfare 9×13, an ensemble who unites modern music with theatrical performances, drummer of the show Sincereley Yours, and percussionist at De Toppers in Concert. Laura also is a very experienced teacher, conductor of mallet bands/percussion ensembles, and permanent the leading percussionist and backing vocalist with Dutch singer/actor Thomas Acda.
After mastering her performances with theatre and music, Laura started to research the deeper connection with music and herself by bowl therapy, soundbaths, yoga concerts and meditation. When noticed a deeper awareness and more relaxation during these experiences, she became is determined to pour these experiences into her performances.
